The Democracy Foundation Institute will
give you the opportunity to develop leadership qualities in a real-world
situation that pits you and your team against opposing teams - their
strategies, hidden agendas, and solutions to a foreign policy crisis that
threatens the very stability of world peace.
In addition, you will hear the insights
of a recognized leader in the community. Past key-note speakers have included
Rich Hood of the Kansas City Star; Dave Helling of KCTV-5; Kansas Senator Nick
Jordan; Dick Hainje of FEMA; Kansas Attorney General Phil Kline; Randall
Murphy, Commander of the Kansas City, KS Crime Scene Investigation Unit;
Caroline Young, Special Agent and Hazardous Materials Specialist for the
Federal Avialtion Administration; Mike Hudson, National Weather Service; Steve
Van Buskirk, VFW; David Smith U.S. Attorney (prosecuted Sadaam Hussein); and
Kim Barbieri, Ed. Specialist Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum.
The Institute includes three days
filled with team building exercises, special speakers, and group activities
designed for high school students in grades 9-12. Don't miss this amazing
opportunity to see democracy in action! If you start saving now, all you
need to put back is less than $20 a month! It's well worth the time and
financial investment. In addition, it's a great time of building new
friendships with like-minded youth from the Kansas City area and beyond.
